“The
Terror Of Examination”

Examination
is the only criteria to evaluate the performance of a student at present. The
efforts of parents, teachers and students are all directed in one direction, to
attain more than 85% in the examinations. The examination’s role cannot be
overlooked. Examinations have a special place of their own. They motivate
students to fix up a goal and strive hard to achieve it. Also, they are an
important tool to measure the progress of the students in visible terms. They
instead of understanding the concepts take up to cramming to bag-in good marks
and sail through the difficult times of examinations effortlessly. This is the
reason examinations have become a ‘terror’ that haunt most students as soon as
the exam dates come near. Then as the doomsday comes nearer the anxiety and
fret of the students multiplies manifold times. The students lose their appetite,
peace, sleep. Many think that
burning mid-night oil will help them sail through this rough patch easily. The
fear of performing is the only thought that dominates their thinking. The
parents should not burden their children. The parents should not expect too
much from their children and during the examination days they should stand-by
them and offer them mental peace and support. Our educational system needs to
be reformed. We must look out for an alternative to make life of the student
more fun filled and easy and not be burned under the veil of competition and mad
race to score well.
